Daniel House
Not Just Another Pretty Mountain Dulcimer Player
Daniel plays a variety of instruments but is most at home playing finger-style guitar and mountain dulcimer - both instrumentally as well as accompaniment for his singing. He is a past member and president of the Paint Creek Folklore Society and a past board member of the Michigan Fingerstyle Guitar Society. He plays out occasionally in and around Michigan and has taught both guitar and mount dulcimer workshops at a variety of folk events in Michigan, Indiana and Kentucky. Daniel's musical styles and materials span a range from the 12th century up to today's baby boomer comfort music, folk and jazz. Not just a copycat, Dan's constantly creative side includes a plethora of original compositions. Daniel's other talents include American Indian and Mandolin making and playing and he also plays the Celtic Harp.
I first met Daniel at a round robin hosted by Butch Young, Nashville session player and owner of "The Ugly" in Vanderbilt. We have shared many sessions, picnics, the Boyne Irish Festival, a television appearance on Fox 32, TV 9&10 news, a performance at the Northern Entertainer's Highlight and even sizzling Stroll the Streets session via 4th of July parade float! He has been a steady and constant companion in the building of the Boyne Celtic Session. Daniel's multifaceted talent with stringed instruments combined with his quick wit and kind soul make him a treasured musical friend and prove the power in the "Synergy" in creating compelling and beautiful music.
